The Highland Prep girls flag football team has made history by making it to the playoffs in their first year. Despite being a new team, they demonstrated remarkable skill and determination, ending the season ranked 2nd in their region and 14th overall. This impressive achievement is a testament to the team's hard work, perseverance, and dedication to the sport.
Head Coach Caleb Cajthaml praised the team's growth and resilience, saying, "It was a huge privilege to be able to coach this team on this inaugural first season. What I'm most proud of was that they really persevered and grew as football players. The team didn't give up a touchdown in their last five games and they showed they can compete with the harder teams although only starting out." The team's success is also a reflection of the strong bond they formed as a team, with senior Addison Busher noting, "I had been pining for girls flag football since my freshman year and I feel very lucky to have gotten to play even if it was only for my senior year."
The team is eager to build on their momentum and achieve even greater success in the future. Sophomore Madison Lawrence said, "Within a couple of months of just being together, we've improved drastically and the fact we were able to make it to the playoffs as a first year team was just amazing." Fellow sophomore Devynn McKnight added, "As a first year, we did really good and we'll do even better next year because we've built that foundation and became a family." The Highland Prep Girls Flag Football team is proud of their achievement and is looking forward to continuing to grow and succeed in the sport.
